Christopher Steele Marriage Celebrant respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you provide.

This policy explains how personal information collected through this website is managed.

Christopher Steele Marriage Celebrant collects and handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What is personal information?

Personal information is any information or opinion about an individual whose identity is apparent or can reasonably be identified from that information.

Use and disclosure of personal information

Personal information collected through this website is used solely for the purpose of:

• responding to enquiries
• arranging wedding ceremonies
• completing legal marriage documentation

In some cases personal information may be shared with service providers assisting with technical services such as website hosting or IT support. These providers are required to treat information confidentially and in accordance with privacy law.

Email communications

If you submit an enquiry through this website, Christopher Steele Marriage Celebrant may contact you by email or phone regarding your enquiry.

You may request at any time that your contact details be removed from communication lists.

Access to your information

You may request access to personal information held about you.

If any information is inaccurate or out of date, reasonable steps will be taken to correct it.

Terms & Conditions

Overview

Christopher Steele offers to conduct your marriage ceremony in a relaxed, friendly and engaging manner at your chosen location within metropolitan Adelaide or nearby regions, subject to availability.

Christopher Steele will also facilitate the legal process required for marriage in Australia, including preparation and submission of required documentation to Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Booking Process

The typical process after booking your ceremony is:

1️ Secure your wedding date with a booking deposit
2️ Arrange a meeting to begin preparations
3️ Complete legal documentation (including the Notice of Intended Marriage)
4️ Review and develop the ceremony format together
5️ Meet again closer to the wedding to run through the ceremony
6️ Wedding ceremony conducted at your chosen location
7️ Submission of marriage documents to Births, Deaths and Marriages

Payments

Booking Deposit

A minimum $200 booking deposit is required to secure your wedding date.

Some couples prefer to settle the full fee at the time of booking.

The remaining balance is due five weeks after booking, unless otherwise agreed.

Payment Methods

Payments may be made by:
• Visa or Mastercard
• EFT bank transfer
• PayID
• Cash

Refund Policy

All payments made toward a wedding booking are non-refundable.

This includes cancellations resulting from change of plans, change of mind or change of circumstances.

Postponements

If your wedding needs to be postponed, you may request a new date within 12 months of the original booking date, subject to availability.

A $50 administration fee applies when a new date is accepted.

Late Arrival on the Wedding Day

If the couple and required witnesses have not arrived within 40 minutes of the scheduled ceremony time, the ceremony may need to be rescheduled.

Rescheduling is subject to Christopher Steele’s availability and may incur a $100 service fee.

Required Legal Paperwork

Australian law requires certain documentation before a marriage can take place.

Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)

The Notice of Intended Marriage form must be received at least one month before the wedding date.

This form will be provided after booking.

Signatures must be witnessed by an authorised person such as:

• Justice of the Peace
• Police Officer
• Medical Doctor

Alternatively, the form can be completed during your first meeting.

Identity Documents

You must provide one of the following:

• Passport
OR
• Birth Certificate

If a passport is not provided, additional photo identification (such as a driver's licence) is required.

If previously married, relevant divorce or death certificates must also be provided.

Wedding Day

Christopher Steele will arrive at least 20 minutes before the scheduled ceremony time.

During the ceremony, three Certificates of Marriage will be signed. One certificate will be given to the couple immediately following the ceremony.

Marriage Registration

Following the ceremony, the signed documents will be submitted to Births, Deaths and Marriages for registration.

Registered Marriage Certificate

The official registered marriage certificate required for immigration or name change purposes must be ordered separately from Births, Deaths and Marriages.

A link will be provided after your wedding to make this process easy.

Witness Requirements

Australian law requires two witnesses over the age of 18 to be present at the ceremony.

Guaranteed Appearance

Christopher Steele will appear as the celebrant for your wedding ceremony on the agreed date and time, except in extreme circumstances outside his control.

Since commencing celebrancy in 2005, Christopher Steele has attended every scheduled ceremony.

Exceptional Circumstances

In extremely rare situations such as serious illness or emergency, Christopher Steele reserves the right to arrange a replacement celebrant.

Where possible, a qualified backup celebrant will be arranged.

Accuracy of Information

Couples are responsible for confirming the accuracy of information provided for legal documentation.

Any corrections required after submission to Births, Deaths and Marriages may incur administrative costs.

Shortening of Notice Period

Applications to shorten the required one-month notice period may be supported where legally permitted.

An administration fee of $110 applies for assistance with such applications.
